Self Portraits.

I have a practice of creating a self portrait every week. I have been a member of an international Facebook group, “Self Portrait Sundays” since March 2019. This group has supported each other through the Covid 19 pandemic and has made the world feel like a closer place. The group shares creative techniques and a bit of story behind our portraits. It has been a useful challenge in drawing faces and in drawing from life. This practice has become somewhat of a personal journal for me. The images do not always look like me, but they all feel like me in the moment. I have discovered that painting the same face live in front of a mirror reveals truth about myself and my state of mind. The mirror doesn’t lie.

It has been a learning experiment to try out different techniques, show a variety emotions and mood and to sometimes approach a likeness of myself.  I am showing them here to note my progress.
